Happy New Year!

In 2014 I want to be a creator. Create new content. Create stronger friendships. Create new ideas and directions. Create the life I want to have in the next year. Five years. Ten. Create opportunities. Create a better business. Just CREATE.

Beginning with creating ten resolutions.
1. Get out of the office more. Create connections, attend events, take in more views for inspiration, and broaden my circle of friends, creatives and clients.
2. Connect around the globe. After designing a 6-unit complex in Bowen, Australia and a single-family home in Dauphin, Manitoba, I've got the travel bug to create homes around the world.
3. Get cultured with traveling. While designing for various locations, building codes, construction and design changes dramatically. Travel for the education (and love of it).
4. Create more financial focused goals. While I save my money by hating to shop, I need to focus on where I put that savings. Just like a Visa bill - RSP, TFSA and those alike, you are getting maxed out this year.
5. Hire an assistant/employee. There are a number of factors that contributed to this, one of the first being to help with the workload, but also to create new ideas, inspiration and content.
6. Consistency with online presence. The key word there being consistent... Updated 2x weekly with more photos, sneak peeks, updates, client comments, etc. on Houzz, Pinterest, Pure Draft, and Facebook.
7. Take more pictures. One (and probably the only) item checked off last years resolution, but tackled mid-year so nowhere complete. This year will be full of more photos taken by the talented Dirk Erkau.
8. Create better mental & physical health. Yoga first comes to mind, but to that I'll add Zumba and just plain old dancing. Also reading for part of the mentality aspect, beginning with Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers.
9. Give back to my community. Although I have dedicated some time to in the past, either pro bono or fundraising, I would like to contribute yearly when I can, however I can.
10. Continue educating myself. Everything from language + culture to DIY + construction details. Create quarterly goals for classes and weekly goals for reading up on topics I want to have a deeper knowledge of.

Do any of these ring true for you too? What are your resolutions for 2014? Oh and Happy New Year!
