This summer I kept Dirk, my amazing photographer, very busy snapping shots of my completed homes of 2013. This specific design is home to one of my favourite couples, both with absolutely enjoyable personalities and amazing taste.
The priority was to design the home to be sustainable while on a budget. The home faces south to maximize natural light and heat, large overhangs to shed the west coast weather, a 2-storey wood stove fireplace to heat the entire home (with the option of electric baseboards as backup or for those fiercely cold times), sourced local labour and materials and the option for future investments, like solar panels and rain barrels.
Enter into an open concept living-dining-kitchen designed perfect for entertaining with a guest bed and bath located nearby. Upstairs, the bedrooms are separated by a large loft over looking the great room and out to the forested backyard/peak-a-boo ocean view. A private master suite and balcony located to one side with 2 bedrooms on the other. Private and entertaining quarters designed here. Interiors coming soon.

Excellent blog post. I definitely appreciate this site. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this home, It's traditionally fascinating and the living is truly maximized. It does not look like it's 2,000 square feet! This really sounds like a home for relaxing and for entertainment!
