Before & After: Brennan

The bones of this home was great, but with absolutely no imagination; the design, details and materials all needed to be brought up to date. With 40 year old stucco, a simple 'box' building footprint, a dangerous hanging balcony and excluded details like trim, fascia with inadequate belly band size. A window behind the tree lit the way only to the dark stairwell, which was among others that were not updated to code. Nevertheless, you can only hit your head so many times until you cannot take it  anymore - Its time to renovate!

The stucco was replaced with beautiful lapped siding with corner trim and, speaking of trim, window and door trim highlights the finely crafted exterior. The stairwell window was moved to the upper floor to properly light the new stairwell. The front and garage doors were replaced, the condemned balcony was removed and replaced with a large timbered roof with cedar shingle details in the gables. Out with the old and in with the new - roof, that is, and a more appropriate sized fascia board.

The beautiful backyard was dreary with clutter, missing guardrails and plywood in areas it shouldn't be. The wood railings were added, outdoor storage removed and plywood doors replaced. Now this outdoor space is ready for summer!
